Benfica Matchday | Lisbon, Tradition & The Luz

Hello! My name is Gonçalo, and I’m a big Benfica supporter.

If you’re a football fan, watching Benfica at Estádio da Luz is already special, but for me the matchday experience starts well before kick-off.

We’ll meet a couple of hours before the game and start with a beer and a simple Portuguese snack while we get to know each other and talk about Benfica, the match ahead and some of the club’s biggest stories and rivalries.

From there, we’ll experience the build-up around Estádio da Luz and join the flow of Benfica supporters arriving for the match. I’ll introduce you to some of the chants, traditions and rituals that are part of the famous “Inferno da Luz”.

We can also stop by Benfica’s Official Store, where you can have a look at the club merchandise and souvenirs before the match.

As kick-off gets closer, the area around the stadium fills with red and white shirts, flags and supporters, and you’ll start to understand why Benfica matchdays have such a strong identity.

Then it’s time for the main event. You’ll head inside Estádio da Luz with your included match ticket and experience Benfica live from the stands.

For me, this experience is not only about watching the match. It’s about understanding the passion, culture and traditions behind one of Portugal’s biggest clubs.

Schedule note: Match dates and kick-off times shown in the booking calendar reflect the latest confirmed schedule, but may still change due to league, TV or organisational requirements. Any updates will be reflected in the booking calendar.
