Ultimate Argentina: 11 Day Football Adventure in Buenos Aires

I recently returned from the Ultimate Argentina, have been in April and what an experience. In total i took in 4 games in the 11 days with possibilities to do more, including games at La Bombonera, Huracan, Independiente and the Superclasico at River's Mas Monumental stadium. A massive thank you to Andrea for organising everything so well and all hosts Vicky, Sol & Cande as they were brilliant, enthusiastic and willing to help with anything you needed on game day or during your time in the city. If you are thinking on booking the trip it is a must do for any football fan and Homefans play a big part in helping making the occasion what it is. I will certainly return in future to do more teams and use Homefans once again.

first match was at boca pick up from the top rentals apartments near river plate stadium taken to a very charming Italian style bar we're we met candid our host very passionate boca fan we had beer and chatted then we walk to the ground soaking up the atmosphere we bought shirts etc on the way and guided threw the security checks into the ground fantastic atmosphere unlike I seen in any ground in England after the game we were taken back to our meeting point and drove back Sunday we went to huracan pick up and taken to our meeting point a very nice place like a fans zone with every thing there were we met our host sol a passionate huracan fan we walk to the stadium threw all the crowd of supporters the streets full of grills cooking local food there was a merchandise shop on way as well very steep terraces and seated areas nothing like England and a great atmosphere from the ultras behind the goal well worth a visit after the game taken back threw the crowds to our transport back to top rentals Monday velez-sarfield a lovely stadium built for the 1978 World Cup we got a uber to the meeting point near the stadium to meet santi and his father both velez members santi plays rugby we had a beer on the street which is Common as no accolhol is aloud in any stadiums most of the fans drink in the parks and streets very safe as no away supporters are aloud in the grounds and always large police presents they had a nice store at the ground for merchandise santi and his dad help with the Spanish translation we then went threw security checks and up a lot of steps to our seats every stadium very steep nice ground only trouble 9.30 ko means very hard to fill ground on a Monday night after the game santi took us back to were we got a uber back Tuesday back to boca we were pick up from top rental and taken to a meeting point near the ground our host was Milton a big boca fan and some of his friends we then walked to the stadium we stop along the street with loads of other supporters Milton and friend had brought with them bottles of fernet and coke which is drunk in pint glass with ice had several but a acquired taste we then went threw sucurity checks and into the ground we had up graded to bottom tier we were two rows from the pitch with loud passionate fans mostly female ones were we were totally different from Saturday being I the very last row at the top still a good view because it was a cuppa liberdores match you had away support look to be only about two maybe three hundred Barcelona from equadour boca won three nil atmosphere was great we then got taken back after the game by uber great night wednesday river plate we walk to the meeting point as we were staying 15 min walk from stadium a nice restaurant and bar we then walk to the stadium this is we're we incounterd our only hiccup of the week we got threw the security checks as far as the facial Id to find we were in the wrong part of the stadium gustavo then around all the roads that are blocked off it took about 30 mins but we ended up in seats about two rows from the front so we had a result and gustavo had to walk back again but made ko so alls well we made our own way back after as we new the area Thursday San lorenzo the guide pick us up from the hotel to the stadium he then guided us around a very large area to the sucurity checks he was not going to the game himself we had Adrian out ezequeil back inside very nice shop for shirts etc in my opinion best shirt of the week very good game atmosphere was great steep ground again but was in seats made our way back to same entrance and pick up across the road Friday only day with no match would have gone to lower Div game if I could find one Thursday daytime we had a ground tour at atalanta a second or b div team very different to the big stadiums about 10 thousand after we went for the asado in the restaurant at the ground the food we had could feed a army well worth it Friday boca museum and ground tour followed by a walk along the very colourful caminto street art museum very much worth a look the host chan very knowledgeable and funny Saturday back to football got a uber from top rental to the meeting point very nice bar near the ground the host the very lovely vicky big independiante fan we had beer and talked we walk to the stadium going past racing club as there clubs are only about 100 yds apart lots of street food which we sample and beer all on the street going to stadium went through security checks and in up more steps again very nice inside good atmosphere as with all the grounds got taken back to best place to get uber allways check on transport arrangement as some are both ways some are one way and some you do yourself but ubers are very cheap Sunday the big one super classico river-plate v boca juniors we meet our host candi outside top rentals walk up the road at 12.20 ko not till 5.00 to a nice bar stayed until 2.30 then walk to the stadium to soak up atmosphere 86000 very noisy river fans got inside one and half hours before ko something alien to me it's 2.55 on sat afternoon fantastic atmosphere game was tight boca won one nil pen after the game the stadium empty very fast as they have wide exits notice that with all grounds went and had a meal for last next to top rentals left for airport next morning with great memory's will return all I can say is a big thank you to all the host candi sol santi Milton fede gustavo adrian ezequeil chan vicky and andera for wonderful logistics thanks for a trip of a lifetime anybody that loves football just do it

Now that the dust has settled… I’ve recently arrived back home from this Ultimate Argentina experience as well as visiting Uruguay. Visiting Buenos Aires to watch the beautiful game has been a dream of mine for many years and to finally experience it, it certainly was special. 9 matches in 11 days (3 matches not with Homefans), all great experiences and led by passionate hosts, from travel arrangements to guiding us to and from the stadium everything went accordingly. The asado dinner experience was really really nice and bike tour checking out the murals was fun. I added extras like stadium + museum tours for Boca and River which gave me a greater insight into the important history of the 2 clubs, as well as a buzz before returning to watch the matches. I enjoyed seeing what the city had to offer away from football too. If you're looking for your dream football getaway then look no further than Homefans.

Just back from a wonderful trip to Buenos Aires. I have been thinking of visiting Argentina to watch football for years and so glad I finally got round to doing it. I booked this Ultimate Argentina package and then a few extra tickets and experiences. In the end I managed to visit 10 Primera División games in 10 different grounds in 13 nights. A real football feast. I loved all the stadiums (La Bombonera my favourite by some distance) and the passion that Argentinian fans have for the game is second to none. The trip was well organised with good communication on meeting points and times for the games. The asado experience and bike tour were also great experiences and Buenos Aires is a truly wonderful city to explore. I loved it. I had high expectations and they were exceeded for sure. My advice is to stop thinking about going to Buenos Aires to watch football and get yourself booked on this trip asap. It is a football fans dream destination. Hope to go back one day and see even more...

Recently returned home from a fantastic trip to Buenos Aires and an immersion into the widely varied football culture across the city. Anyone still thinking about signing up, just don’t delay because you won’t want to miss out! We had a bit of a hiccup early on with the cancellation of a round of games due to the dispute with the AFA…however, that only provided some time to become familiarized with the great city of Buenos Aires. This is a great city to get about, whether using their very extensive and reliable bus and metro services, Uber services are great in the city…might sound cheesy, but I would highly recommend the tourist bus tours..it shows a substantial part of the city and helps to get your bearings for other trips and events. Turning to the football, I managed to get six games in…Independiente, Boca, Huracan, Platense, River Plate and Racing Club…six very different stadiums and atmospheres..and six very welcoming clubs and fans! Arrangements to each of the games were made by very knowledgeable and passionate fans of the respective clubs…travel arrangements, meeting places, occasional beers and tickets and access arrangements for each game was all included…but all within the context of the average fan’s match day procedures. I traveled solo, but with Homefans you get the opportunity to meet up with like-minded people from across the world..I met Germans, US, Canadian, Dutch visitors..all there to experience the same unparalleled culture and passion of the Argentinian football scene. Don’t delay..get signed up!

A fantastic experience. We booked over a year and a half ago, and finally, on November 7th, we arrived in Buenos Aires. The driver for the transfer to the Top Rentals Belgrano apartment was already waiting for us. The apartment itself was excellent, with a lovely rooftop pool. From the roof, you can already see River Plate's Monumental stadium. On Saturday, we had our first match. It was originally supposed to be Racing Club - Defensa y Justitia, but due to an AFA ban, no supporters were allowed. Homefans expertly resolved this, and we went to El Palacio to watch Huracan - Newell's Old Boys. The hosts for this match were Marjorie and Sol. Super nice women and very helpful. First, we had a beer in the park, then a short visit to the Previa with the real fans, which was great. And then we went to the stadium. A beautiful old stadium with a unique atmosphere. The match wasn't great, but it was a nice ex. After the match, we were politely escorted to our vans for the return trip to the hotel. Several people on our bus wanted to snag a Boca shirt for the Superclassico on Sunday. The problem was that the required sizes were sold out at all the shops near the hotel. Marjorie knew a few shops in a shopping mall where we might find something we liked. She arranged for the bus to stop there, so it could continue straight on, and she took the people looking for shirts to these shops. A fantastic move on her part, and everyone was successful. We took an Uber back to the apartment. Uber works very well in BA. On Sunday morning, we were picked up on time for the Superclassico. We gathered for a beer and a slice of pizza at Napoleon, a few blocks from La Bombonera. Sol was our host today. Everything was perfectly organized again. We walked to the stadium over two and a half hours before the match, and it was already a madhouse on the way. Wonderful! We entered the stadium without any problems, and even two hours before the match, more than half the crowd was already inside, and the singing and music were constantly playing. No one was sitting together, but that didn't matter. This was truly the most fantastic experience of the trip. There was pure passion and celebration in the stadium. And the match was also top-notch. We will never forget this day. Afterwards, everything was perfectly arranged, and we were promptly dropped off at the apartment. Afterward, we went out for dinner with some English and other Dutch people. The meat is unparalleled in Argentina. We had booked five matches for this trip, the other three of which were hosted by Gira Futbolera: Argentinos Juniors vs. Belgrano, San Lorenzo vs. Sarmiento, and Velez Sarsfield vs. River Plate. These were also perfect; a review can be found in the respective experiences. But besides the matches, we also had an Asado with a stadium visit at CA Atlanta with host Andrea. This was also perfectly organized. A passionate guide told us all about the club and showed us around the stadium, after which we even got to kick a ball around on the pitch. We had the Asado at the club restaurant, La Bohemia, which was delicious. Highly recommended. Besides this activity, we also took a three-hour bike tour with our host, Chan. Chan told us all about the murals we saw of Maradona, Boca, and Messi. The bike tour added a little extra sparkle to our trip. Unfortunately, the trip just ended. But I would recommend it to everyone. The communication with Homefans is also excellent. Everything is communicated on time. Perfect. And Buenos Aires is a really nice city to visit; there's so much to do and see. Thank you Mariano, Andrea, Sol, Marjorie and Chan for a great time!

What an amazing footballing experience in the most beautiful city I have visited. During my trip I went to six games, including matches in the iconic Bombonera and Mas Monumental stadiums. These were the standouts but the experiences at the other stadiums were equally memorable thanks to the fantastic guides on the trip. It’s not only the games as the trip includes an asado evening hosted by the wonderful Betty and Marcelo and also a really enjoyable bike tour around the most famous football murals of the city which turned out to be a real highlight with Chen chatting about the stories behind each of the murals. Away from the football, Buenos Aires has so much to offer and the people here are so friendly. A massive thank you to my guides Chan, Ezequiel, Marcelo, Marj and Santi who were all superb and helped make it such a good tour as well as Mariano for being so helpful when I had to reschedule my trip. I can’t recommend this trip enough and hope to be back in Buenos Aires again sometime to see more games.

If you are a football fanatic with a passion for Stadiums, look no further - this is THE TRIP! As a HF local Host for Napoli with eternal worship for Diego Maradona, visitinga BA and La Bombonera was my decade-long dream. But the trip is much more than this! You are surrounded by other football geeks from all over Europe, you are very well taken care by the organisers and very nicely guided by the various local Hosts! The atmosphere is in the stadiums are possibly even better than expectations, Argentineans are warm and easy-going people (if you happen to speak Spanish, then you can access the extra level), and the city is vibrant. The Asado was delicious and in a very cosy setting, and the bike tour is very pleasant and informative. You also have the chance to book additional activities (eg, the Top Maradona tour) or additional matches. I personally had 8 games including 2 Libertadores matches, and all of them ranged from super good to excellent. All in all, the trip is even decently priced for what it offers. You only need to find the right celebration or the perfect excuse and just book it. "La pelota no se mancha"

This was my dream holiday trip come true. I couldn't have been happier. Every single match experience was a pleasure to behold, as were the extra experiences that are included in this trip. Starting with the matches. Every host was very professional and enthusiastic. Their passion was clear and it really rubbed of on us. Not only stadiums as the Mas Monumental and La Bombonera were amazing to visit. The lesser know teams were as equally amazing. The atmosphere is so authentic there. All the extras such as the Bike trip, Asado and Maradona tour were also very well organized. They also offer plenty of optional extras and even helped me booking a trip to Iguazu Falls and Montevideo. This holiday was the experience of a lifetime. Don't sleep on it, just book it!

An absolutely amazing trip which was non stop and truly authentic. Our groups included people from the U.K., Netherlands, Sweden, N. Ireland, and Italy. All the hosts were passionate about their clubs and gave us a great insight into the traditions and culture of their teams. The locals, whether it was in BA or Montevideo were so nice and appreciated our long trip to see their football. Thanks to Sol, Andrea, Mariano, Chan, Santi, Fede, Roberto, Gaston, (hope I’ve not missed anyone). Everything was so well organised and the lower league games are worth a visit too. The passion of the support was superb. And the drumming and bands which never stopped were infectious, so by the end of the game you were hoping in with the chants. Incredible experience, so just book it!
