San Sebastián Groundhopping Tour: From Historic Atocha to the Border Grounds

Designed for true football lovers, this groundhopping experience explores the places where Basque football was built beyond the global spotlight. Our mission is to tell the stories of the community clubs and legendary grounds that often go overlooked. We begin at the site of the former Atocha Stadium, once home to Real Sociedad and one of the most iconic, vanished grounds in Spanish football history. After a stop at the modern Anoeta (Reale Arena) to discuss the evolution of the game, we leave the mainstream behind to explore the traditional grounds that represent the heart of the local community. Using the local public transport, we travel to Don Bosco (home of CD Pasajes), Fandería (home of CD Touring and a symbol of local football culture in Errenteria), and finally Stadium Gal in Irún — a historic ground in a border city that played a key role in the early development of football in Spain. Throughout the tour, we focus on the social roots of the game, forgotten rivalries, and the industrial communities that keep these historic clubs alive. This is an experience for groundhoppers and football purists looking for the most authentic football culture in the Basque Country.
