Club Visit
Located right at the heart of the city of Rosario and in the green surroundings of Independencia Park, you can find Newell’s Old Boys stadium also known as “El Coloso del Parque”. This name is still in use nowadays , even though fans voted to change the name to Marcelo A. Bielsa in his honor in 2009 .
Starting as a school in the early 1900´s, Newell’s Old Boys is also famous for its youth divisions, being one of the clubs with the most national titles in AFA’s youth tournaments.
Many famous footballers from the club’s academy have represented Argentina at World Cups : Gabriel Batistuta, Walter Samuel, Américo Gallego, Jorge Valdano, Gabriel Heinze, Roberto Sensini, Mauricio Pochettino, and Maxi Rodríguez, among others. Lionel Messi also played in the club’s youths.
I will take you through the surroundings of “El Coloso “, I will tell you about what NOB means to Rosario and show you the different football murals reflecting the Club’s history including the most iconic one: Diego Maradona’s memorial. We enjoyed Maradona as a player from our side.
Discover Messi´s early times in Rosario

Really enjoyed the Newells Old Boys tour. Juan and Julian were very informative and the area around the stadium looks cool. They gave great insights to the murals outside and it was brilliant to see the inside of the stadium. They really did give a feeling that it would be brilliant on match day to watch a game live.

Thx for the tour @ 13-02. I appreciated the presentation of a unique football club in Argentina. I knew Newells has got a great ground. Because of that I expected some more in the tour. First of all I expected that you took us around and through the whole ground incl main entrance, catacombe and maybe dressing room of the players. There were some connection issues during the presentation which was a pity. The end of the tour was rather sudden. All in all the impression which I received from Newells, the fantastic ground and the iconic shirt is superb. After we all can return to our local grounds, I definitively will come down to Rosario some day to support Newells. Great thanks for the fantastic booklet. Greets from Netherlands, Lenno
