History and football in La Boca neighborhood

On this walking tour (NO MATCH), we'll explore both the history of the La Boca neighborhood and the history of the Boca Juniors club. We'll draw a powerful parallel between them, revealing striking similarities between the neighborhood's history and the team's. First, we'll embark on a historical adventure. We will visit a monument which is dedicated to the Spanish conqueror Pedro de Mendoza and is located in Parque Lezama, in La Boca neighbourhood. We will have a poignant glimpse into the early days of Spanish colonization, back in the year of 1536. And we will ask ourselves: was the founding of Buenos Aires an Argentine event? Or was it, in reality, a South American event? Then we will walk or taxi a taxi to Boca Juniors Museum (ticket is not included). And we will see how Boca Juniors also aspires to be a South American team, more than an Argentinian one. This walking tour is inspired by a chapter from my book Liberators of America, published in five different countries. You’ll leave with a richer understanding of Buenos Aires and of Boca Juniors.
